Untitled #15

This is not something I'm really proud of...there's really no subject to focus on or lines to lead you around the picture. But I wanted to put up something different than recent posts and here it is.

Southeast Christian

One night I was driving down Blakenbaker Parkway and there was an awesome sunset behind the beautifully lit Southeast Christian Church. Of course I didn't have my camera. But I vowed to myself to at least take my camera there one night to get some shots of it lit up. This was the night. I really like the illuminated clouds too, although they kinda look evil and this is a church...

On another note, it's driving me crazy because I shoot in RAW format and when I convert to .jpg there is tremendous color loss. If anyone (Adam) knows any ways or tricks to prevent this (if there are any), please let me know.

Best Friends

Sorry for the many feet pictures recently, but I rather enjoy this one. This is of Darla and myself.

Grant's Lick Nights #4

If you remember, back in January I attempted to capture the seeming movement of the stars around Polaris, the North Star. During the first attempt, I wasn't exactly sure how long I needed to expose the photograph in order to see movement, and with my old camera, I had to take multiple shots and combine them in order to do that. At this point, I still have to do that until I can get a wireless remote for my camera. Now, with previous experience, I took more photos (12 exposures each 30 seconds in length and a total time between the first and last exposures of six and a half minutes). This produced a much more noticeable result. Once I get my wireless remote, I plan on taking fewer photos with exposure times of perhaps a couple minutes each.

Out with the Old...and New

With the title I was going for a partial play on words.

Nature's Table

Once again, this back home in the area near the bench. That area is just hoppin I guess. But anyway, I took this when helping my sister set up there when she was taking pictures with an old 4x5 camera. I'll probably post one of her setting up here soon.

Globes

David Lasoski randomly called me up the other night to see if I wanted to take some pictures of the full moon, meaning, he wanted me to take pictures of the moon for him. But I was cool with this. I like random events and taking pictures, so his desire quickly turned into my desire too. Originally he wanted to take pictures of Louisville with the moon behind the city from McAlpine. This didn't work out as planned because of the distance. So we drove back downtown and found a good place to shoot this one at Market and sixth streets.

Warp Speed

This was taken on the Bardstown Road walk last week. Marissa and I came across a wall that was covered in different designs like this. The whole thing remeinded me of a quilt. The "warp speed" effect was accomplished by zooming in while taking the photo at a relatively slow shutter speed.

They Come with the Time

It's that time of year again when the garden spiders start making their appearance. I shot this in the bushes back home.

Monochrome #2

I didn't intentionally make these two monochrome pictures contain feet...or the same hue for that matter. It is pure coincidence.

Monochrome #1

I took this yesterday when Marissa was taking pictures of the bench for one of her photography classes. After she finished and we were walking out of the woods, Charlie decided to hop up on the bench and, well I guess pose for us or something. The first picture I took didn't capture the right colors at all, so I quickly changed some white balance settings and took some more. I was really fortunate that the sun decided to come out from behind the many clouds at that instant.

Glamour

Marissa and I decided to go on a little excursion down Bardstown Road to play with our new cameras, and ended up taking a gig of photos. I was shooting in RAW format though and each file takes up around 8MB. If you think that's a lot, Marissa's Nikon produces 15MB files. Some of the pictures we took were though shop windows. I quickly found out that I need a circular polarizer. But anyway... We came across this beauty salon. It took me a while to figure out how to compose this, and I still not quite happy with it, but here it is...
